Ingredients:
3 cups of sliced, fresh strawberries
1/2 cup white, granulated sugar
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter - diced into small cubes or pieces
8x11 baking pan
Directions:
Mix the strawberries and white sugar together - just coating the strawberries slices well and set aside. To make the "crisp": in another bowl, combine the oatmeal, flour and brown sugar together. Mix together well and add in the chopped walnuts. Then use your hands and work in the diced/pieces of butter into the mixture. Squeeze together the dry mixture with the butter until all the mixture is adhering to some butter, and it has a crumbly texture.
Grease your pan with cooking spray or butter. Spread out half of the crisp mixture to cover the bottom of the pan. Then evenly layer in all of the sugared strawberries on top of the bottom crisp. (By this time the white sugar should have dissolved into the natural juice of the strawberries and make them more liquidy.) Spread the rest of the crisp mixture on top of the strawberries.
Place in oven at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until golden brown on top. You can serve this delicious dessert warm or cold, and it goes really well with a dollop of whip cream or vanilla ice cream! Enjoy!
