Tallahassee, Fla. -- Robin Looper has been selected as the 2014 School Employee of the Year for the Leon County School District.
Robin Looper was surprised Tuesday morning by Leon County School Superintendent Jackie Pons, along with other administrators.
Looper is an aide for special needs students at Buck Lake Elementary School. She has worked there for ten years.
Looper was shy from all of the attention, but, says she appreciates the honor. She says, "It makes me very nervous. I enjoy the fact that it's a recognition of what we do and what we do for our students. So many times, these children get overlooked and so it's just neat to see them get recognized and what we do with them get recognized."
A committee chose Looper out of five finalists. (See below)
She is now a candidate for Florida's statewide "School Related Employee of the Year" award, which will be announced in July.
