Only one man in Tallahassee claims to have gone hunting with English royalty and Ted Turner. He's a man with so many stories, it's hard to keep them all straight.
If you've been on FAMU's campus, you know exactly who Soul Train is. If not, you're about to meet one of the most intriguing men we've ever profiled. He's a hunter, a coach, and a businessman.
Perched on his corner of the set, sits one of the most humble men at FAMU.
"I'm the most popular figure on this campus," said Soul Train.
He's known as Soul Train, actually Lawrence is his first name, but beyond that, he's not giving away too much of himself.
Train peddles his goods everyday, except of course when it's raining. And if you are lonely and need someone to talk to, Train will do that too...maybe that's where the name comes from, a mouth that never stops moving.
His menu isn't four-star by any means..Pickled eggs, hot sausage, pigs feet, and friend chicken in some form of sauce. But there are also chips and snacks, most of which cost a dollar, or not...depending on his mood.
"If they have money, I'll let them buy snacks, if they don't, I'll still let them have it."
Not exactly a business model for success, but Soul Train isn't here to strike it rich. He's worked the Tallahassee community for years, the past eight at FAMU--never making enough money to retire..but even if he did, there's a bigger picture.
"This is basically for the underprivileged kids. A lot of them don't have those cards."
