TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ––
Over the next two months, 208 managers from across Florida will graduate from the Certified Public Manager (CPM) program in four separate graduation ceremonies around the state.
The CPM program is a nationally recognized leadership-training program, currently delivered in more than 30 states. The Florida CPM program, one of the largest and most successful programs in the country, is administered by the Florida Center for Public Management (FCPM), which is part of the Askew School of Public Administration & Policy at The Florida State University.
The 208 graduates are employed by local governments, state agencies and non-profit organizations stretching from the Panhandle to Miami. They have undergone a rigorous program consisting of 32 days of training, six exams and six assignments. They will join the ranks of more than 3,500 other CPM graduates in Florida. More than 21 state agencies, 60 city and county governments and 15 constitutional offices have participated in the CPM program.
The Florida Cabinet has recognized the program as a “preferred management development program.” Each graduation ceremony will be the culmination of a three-day leadership conference. The ceremonies will be held at the following locations:
* TALLAHASSEE — July 9 at 1:15 p.m. in Miller Hall, 3rd Floor University Center Building C, Florida State University.
* LAKELAND — July 22 at 1:15 p.m. at the Polk County Sheriff’s Operation Center, 1891 Jim Keene Blvd., Winter Haven.
* FORT LAUDERDALE — Aug. 13 at 1:15 p.m. at the FDOT Traffic Management Center, 2300 W. Commercial Blvd.
* GAINESVILLE — Aug. 27 at 1:15 p.m. at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, 1714 SW 34th St.
