Leon County Fourth graders walk through black history as they tour the John G Riley Center. It's all apart of the 11th annual "Blended Lives" event.

The mission is to educate children about local African American landmarks. One particular monument is the Riley Museum. It's a home that originally belonged to it's namesake. John G. Riley was a slave freed after the Civil War. He ended up becoming principal of Leon High and Secretary of the NAACP.

"It's also an opportunity to show how museum and institutions of different persuasions can work together to help ensure that this history is told from a balanced view," said Riley Museum's Executive Director Althemese Barnes.

Nearly 13 thousand students have taken the tour since the program's start.
