Elementary STEM Bowl

Just a question: When the water cycle, rain, snow or sleet fall on the ground...it is a form of what? The answer? Precipitation.

This is just one of the questions that some elementary school students were today on Friday for the STEM Bowl. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 19 out of the 23 Leon County elementary schools participated in activities like building a water turbine and a brain bowl.

Candace Gautney, Title I Gifted and Talented Resource in Elementary says, "More and more of the jobs that are in the world today are STEM related and we want to hit them early so that they can decide what they're interested in before they get to middle and high school and they have to make those big decisions."

Buck Lake Elementary won the engineering challenge of building a wind turbine and Kate Sullivan Elementary won the Brain Bowl.

Overall winner was Buck Lake.
