Tallahassee, Florida - Feb. 7, 2012 -
Today is FSU Day at the Florida capitol. It's become a popular tradition during the legislative session. Those who love the university say it's a wonderful opportunity to bring Florida State to Seminole friends in the legislature.
Anyone who bleeds Garnet and Gold is invited to come out to the Capitol today for a day filled with informative displays, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Those who attend FSU Day at the Capitol today will also be treated to appearances by celebrities tied to their beloved university, performances by the Pep Band, cheerleaders and the one and only Flying High Circus. Refreshments will be available for all to enjoy. Additionally, legislative alumni will be recognized on the steps of the Historic Capitol. The all day event will emphasize the university's tradition of academic innovation and excellence.
A special part of today's festivities involve FSU head football coach Jimbo Fisher and the Kidz1stFund he's founded with his wife, Candi.
The Fishers established the fund in August after their youngest son, Ethan, was diagnosed with Fanconi anemia. F-A is a rare blood disorder that affects about one in 131-thousand people. The disease results in the decline of the patient's blood counts over time, eventually leading to bone marrow failure. Senator John Thrasher and Representative Jimmy Patronis will hold a press conference at the Capitol this afternoon to honor the Fishers and their Kidz1stFund.
