Associated Press News Release
LAKELAND, Ga. (AP) -- A south Georgia bus driver has been placed on administrative leave after a 5-year-old girl was left alone on a school bus for six hours.
Lanier County Schools Superintendent Keith Humphrey told the Valdosta Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1hhzPww ) the girl fell asleep on the bus the morning of Dec. 12 and was crying when she was found hours later.
The girl's mother says she received a call that afternoon from her daughter's school saying the girl was found on a bus in the parking lot of a middle school.
Humphrey says the girl was examined by a school nurse and was back in class the next day.
