Tallahassee FL- A local teacher accused of misconduct with a student will not face criminal charges.

We have been following this story since May when a teacher at Havana Middle School was accused of acting inappropriately
with a student. The State attorney's office decided earlier this week that they would not be pressing any charges. We were told by the teachers lawyer that both the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's office launched their own investigations which led to this decision.

The Teacher's Attorney Tim Jansen explained, "I want the community to know that we are thankful the process played out that we were able to turn over evidence which we did in our investigation. And it showed that the students allegations were not credible, and the teachers reputation has been exonerated. And we hope their is no scar,"

Jansen told us his client has since left Havana Middle School and now works at a different school.

Gadsden County, FL - The parents of two children accusing a local teacher of misconduct now have legal representation.

The Havana Middle School teacher is on paid suspension while Gadsden County officials investigate the claims made public earlier this week.

The female teacher is accused of inappropriate conduct, including sending hundreds of text messages to the students.

A statement issued this morning from the Parks and Crump law firm says the parents expect Gadsden County and the State of Florida to conduct a full and thorough investigation.

An attorney, representing the teacher told WCTV earlier this week that his client is "well-respected and a great teacher".

WCTV will bring you more on this story tonight on Eyewitness News.

Havana, FL - A local school teacher is off the job over allegations of misconduct with a student; however, the teacher's lawyer says she vehemently denies any inappropriate contact with a student.

The parent of an 8th grader at Havana convinced her daughter to open up about allegations with a teacher that surfaced earlier this week

The parent alleges the teacher had inappropriate contact with the student including hundreds of text messages.

The school board is launching an investigation, and per school policy, the teacher has been suspended with pay.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office is also looking into this case.

"We are at the initial phase of this investigation, we're just gathering our information, getting the facts and then we'll move on from there, we'll go where the facts lead us," Cpt. Jim Corder, Gadsden County Sheriff's Office, said.

"We're not sure of the motives of the parent at this point but we’re looking into that because this teacher has a reputable reputation, clean, a great teacher, well-respected at the school, and not a hint, never any allegation of anything like this ever," R. Timothy Jansen, P.A., Teacher’s Attorney, said.

The teacher will remain suspended at least until the next school board meeting at the end of this month, which is when the superintendent will make a recommendation to the board who will then decide whether to fire or reinstate the teacher.

The teacher's lawyer adds if she is cleared, she will decide what she plans to do if and when the time comes.

Havana, FL - A local teacher is no longer in the classroom and could possibly face criminal charges after allegations of misconduct with a student.

Officials tell us they've suspended a Havana Middle school teacher effective immediately with pay.

The suspension is due to allegations that the female teacher had inappropriate contact with an 8th grader (also female) at the school.

By the next school board meeting, the school superintendent will make a recommendation on what to do.

That's when the board will decide to reinstate or dismiss the teacher depending on the results of the investigation.

The Sheriff's Office is looking into possible criminal charges.

The mother of the student convinced her daughter to open up with the school about this incident which they say included hundreds of text messages between the teacher and the student.
