Valdosta, GA - Valdosta City Schools has won a national award for its creativity and technological innovation in the classroom.

It is 1 of 4 school systems in the U.S. to win the Extreme Exemplary School Award and "Show Us Your Technology" video contest presented by Extreme Networks.

Winners were chosen based on their educational commitment to a 21st Century learning environment. Valdosta was nominated for its use of Wi-Fi in all of their schools.

"We are excited about the award because we were recognized for using technology to keep students engaged and having technology available for the students and the teachers to use day to day with their tablets and other devices for their curriculum" said Valdosta City Schools Director of Technology, Mark Swift.

The latest school to install the Wi-Fi system is the new Pinevale Elementary school, which will be opening after Thanksgiving break.
