Past FAMU Professor Guy Darnell Passes November 26, 2010

FAMU Professor Guy Darnell passed on Friday, November 26th. He taught “business for over 40 years, earning his A.B. from Morehouse College, where he was a schoolmate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

He went on to earn his MBA from the University of Chicago and Th.D. from the Arkansas Baptist Theological School before beginning his teaching career which included stints at Fort Valley State College, The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Florida A & M University, School of Business & Industry under the deanship of Dr. Sybil Mobley for 35 years from 1955-1990.

He is the co-author of College Business Law, published in 1960 and author of “Goodbye, Mr. Nigger” published in 2005. In 2009, he moved to Virginia to live with his daughter Tonya Darnell Burton who is a 1988 FAMU/SBI graduate.

Note: The funeral is Thursday (12-2) at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, Chesapeake, VA. The body is at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Hwy. Chesapeake, VA 23323.
