Scholarship House at FAMU Receives $12,500 Grant

Tallahassee, Florida --

The Florida Retail Federation Scholarship House is home to students on FAMU's campus, and the rent is free.

Wednesday they were given a check from Walmart for $12,500 dollars, and emergency hurricane kits in case of emergency.

The students were thrilled to receive the grant money.

Senator Bill Montford said, "If you look at the history of this foundation, what a tremendous influence it has had on the lives of young people, and of the lives through the young people."

Students who live in the house save an average of $8,000 dollars a year.

The program run by the Southern Scholarship Foundation was started at Florida State, but is now at University of Florida,and Florida Gulf Coast.
