Classes started in Madison, Gadsen, Taylor and Jefferson counties Monday.
With the new school year comes reminders to drivers everywhere - to slow down in school zones and be sure to heed the stop signs on school buses.
A 2013 study shows that more than 85-thousand vehicles nationwide illegally passed stopped school buses on a single day.
12 thousand of those occured in Florida. Each violation could cost drivers 260 dollars in fines.
