Tallahassee, Florida --
A new campaign urges kids to read as many as 50,000 books online in 30 days.
The campaign kicked off Tuesday at the Florida Capitol.
"We Give Books" is improving children's access to books by having them online. For each book read online between April 5 and May 9, the Pearson Foundation will donate one book to the local Florida elementary school that the reader chooses.
This week is children's week at the capital, and legislators say any time kids are in the hallways, it's a good day.
Superintendent of Leon County Schools Jackie Pons said, "What we find out is those parents who are reading every day with their students, who are talking to their students about literacy... encouraging their students to read...become better readers."
Although "We Give Books" is aimed at children, anyone can go online and read the children's books.
