Tallahassee, FL - Christmas decorations normally wouldn't go up for another couple of weeks, but for one family-- it couldn't happen soon enough.

Lights hang from the bushes, and wreaths are already hanging on doors in one Killearn neighborhood which decided to make Christmas happen a little early.

All because a few teachers, and lots of family and friends were all inspired by one little boy.

Roberts Elementary P.E. Coach, Laurie Cox, "What if we could get this street and this part of Killearn to at least put out some Christmas decorations."

All for the Mcelroy family because their son, Trent, has had a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma since 2010. After years of the best treatment and drugs, the fighting was over.

Trent's Mother, Leigh Anne McElroy, said "They knew that we might try to cram Christmas in and we had talked about having an early Christmas so she had asked about asking the neighbors to possibly try and put their lights up... Just to help with the Christmas Spirit."

For Trent the neighbors decked the halls. Making sure he had one last chance to sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with all his loved ones.

McElroy explained, "And we all piled in the Suburban and Trent was in the front seat on my lap and we jumped in the car and we drove slowly around and looked at all the lights and Trent even said lets sing Christmas songs."

"To them it might seem like a small thing but the fact that the whole neighborhood did it-- I know that we are the only street in town that is all decorated and lit up right now," said McElroy.

An amazing gesture for a pretty amazing little kid.

Sadly, Trent McElroy passed away Wednesday November 13th. He was just 10 years old. Our hearts and prayers are with his family tonight.
