Hospital Group Donates Backpacks For Leon Kids

There was a different type of assembly line in Tallahassee on Tuesday.

Volunteers lined up to fill about 150 backpacks for needy children in Leon County.

Workers from Hospital Corporation of America and Capital Regional Medical Center filled the backpacks for both elementary and middle school students.

It's the 4th year HCA North Florida and the administrative team of Capital Regional have conducted the annual back to school drive.

"Probably the most important thing, sanitizer to keep them healthy as they start back to school with all the germs there, but absolutely, pencils, papers, crayons...all the staples you need to go back to school," said Brian Cook of Capital Regional Medical Center.

This year, the supplies are being donated to Children's Home Society and Covenant Hospice's Partners In Care-Together For Kids program.

Those agencies will then distribute the backpacks to children.
