People all over were celebrating Christmas yesterday, including those at Uplift, Inc., a homeless shelter in Morven, Georgia that is making the holidays special for their residents.
"It's heart warming because now I know what it's like," says Donald Randall, a resident and volunteer at Uplift, Inc.
Uplift Incorporated is bringing together their residents with a Christmas dinner so nobody has to spend the holidays alone.
"Once you come here, you're family. A lot of people don't have families, so we're your family. We like to get together at this time and all," Randall continues.
The food is being prepared and on the menu, green beans, rice, macaroni and cheese and of course ham, but it's not always easy to get the funding for events like this, for this family.
Uplift is a nonprofit organization which receives donations which are greatly appreciated like this Christmas Tree donated from Hambrick Tree Farms in Hahira.
"We really become gracious of, you know, especially the people that doesn't have family and I had an opportunity to go home to my family or spend a day here, and see, I'm here because you know a lot of times , for me, I'm their family," says June Render, a volunteer at Uplift, Inc.
Render says these donations makes such a difference, which brings this family even closer together.
"You want a normal situation you don't want to be just here. Because a lot of times you can spend Christmas, any holiday, and just be here," Render continues.
The shelter currently has 21 residents who all received Christmas dinner.
