The Leon Lions girls volleyball team is nothing short of competitive... but watching the lady lions play this year, well it may look at little different.

"This year we have our new coach angie strickland and its the best team chemistry ive ever played with." says Senior Anna Marie Disalvo.

"Angie is an awesome person and an awesome coach, she has a lot of intensity and a lot of ideas to bring to the team," adds Senior Teresa Ahler.

The new head Lion is replacing coach Joy Becker who retired last season after being with the Lions since 1996..

"Shes just worked really hard to teach us her skill post ocach becker so its a little different but she still continuing the prime tradition that coach becker had in her program." says Disalvo

And even though she remains loyal to the traditions of Leon Volleyball, she's added her own style.

"We just want to do a little different twist, a little bit more excitement, you know, just come at it a little bit differernt angle, but thats how you improve and thats how you grow so, we are keeping the pride and the traditions the same, but just tweeking it a little bit with a different coaching style and just keeping the energy alive in the gym. I think thats really important and it transpires from the bench to the girls to the coachs to the people in the stands" says Coach Angie Strickland.

An excitment she hopes will lead the lions to victory, and a successful season as the new head coach.
