Sorensen Brothers: Someone You Should Know
Font Size:

Tallahassee, FL -- July 27, 2011 --

Many of us are close with our brothers---but not many of us have made millions with our siblings.

The Firehouse guys hit it big almost 20 years ago and their recent visit to Tallahassee proved that no matter how successful they are, they never forgot where they came from.

Have you ever wondered what your boss did all day? Employees at firehouse subs are finding out first hand exactly what their CEO's do. They roll up their sleeves, hit the road, and celebrate success.

"I'm not sure what they thought Chris and I did all day, but a lot of them are excited to see us, that we are engaged in the business," said Robin Sorensen, co-founder of Firehouse Subs.

Chris and Robin Sorensen grew up like many kids with aspirations of being a firefighter like their dad. But somewhere along the way, they decided that making sandwiches was a better career. They had no idea that would turn into this: a place that prides itself on big portions and awesome subs.

"As we like to say, we have 436 stores today so that's 435 more than we ever thought we would have."

The Sorensen's are the founders of Firehouse subs, one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

"As we like to say, we opened October 10th and we weren't sure really if we would be there the 11th. But it's just fantastic."

"We've started you know in the beginning to follow what we learned at the fire department, that's been 15 years," said co-founder Chris Sorensen.

The brothers are still as humble as ever--never forgetting that they too once made the sandwiches themselves. Life wasn't always this good, and they didn't always have millions of dollars. When they started by opening their first store in Jacksonville, all they knew was that helping firemen was better than actually being one.

"I remember my fire chief saying do you want to be a sandwich maker? I was happy to leave work sometimes and I was working 24 on and 48 off and I did that for about five years. You knew before I said I would be with Firehouse Subs permanently."
