One man who knows a thing or two about inaugurations is Frank Brogan. The former Lt. Governor had a back seat to the festivities on Tuesday.

But that doesn't mean he's not a busy man, in fact, these days, Brogan is busier than ever before with his new title....dad.

"Who said you can't come home"

Truer words have never been spoken and for Frank Brogan, home is a place where he can raise his son, live in a nice community, and work at a job he never thought he'd ever want.

"Ironically, I had no designs on the job of Chancellor of the State University System ever. Especially when it first opened up and literally had no designs on it. Quite frankly, I just signed a six year extension in my contract at Florida Atlantic University, " said Brogan.

Brogan was the President of Florida Atlantic, a job he held for almost seven years. Before then he spent 10 years in Tallahassee as the Lt. Governor and the Commissioner of Education. He's been a Superintendent, school principal, and a school teacher--but his biggest badge of honor may not be known for years, it's called New Florida and it could set the stage for the university system for years to come.

"Seeing our Universities marry with our economic development opportunities, that's what we call New Florida. In taking advantage of new technology and changing the way professors are reaching our students in the classroom and lab--even in their own homes."

Brogan is also very proud of the fact that he was able to settle a lawsuit with the legislature and the Board of Governors, something he said had to happen if there was any hope of planning for a brighter future.

But more than any of his jobs or accolades, Frank Brogan is now a father. A job you can not prepare for no matter how many degrees you have. And that makes his real job even more important because one day, his son will be ready for college, and it'll be up to his father to make sure the Florida University system is in a good place when Colby John is ready to make his decision on higher education.

"I tell people I have a personal stake in not only the success of the University system but of the Sunshine State. I want our little boy to be educated here, grow up here, and ultimately to stay here."
