Buying and selling baseball cards was once a very profitable industry. But these days, there's only one card shop remaining in Tallahassee.

But that doesn't mean there still aren't some die cards out there. Guys like Danny Jordan who's been collecting for a half century and doing it so quietly that not even his co-workers knew of his hobby.

For 24 years, Danny Jordan worked for the state of Florida. Since 2004, he's been the Vice President of Consulting at 180 Communications in Tallahassee. His work is well respected across the state. But the work he does behind closed doors is respected across the nation.

Literally behind these doors is Jordan's real hobby. Over a million baseball cards, collected through the years.

"It takes me back to my childhood with my father, who is such a big baseball fan. I was a baseball fan. Baseball to me is America. It's an American sport. I love dealing with people my age. I love dealing with teenagers that love baseball," said Jordan.

Danny has them all. Mike Schmidt's, Chris Sabo's, Andre Dawson's, Greg Maddux...he has 5,000 of the former Brave. He has Mantles and Maris and everyone in between--collecting and trading cards is a hobby--more like a part time job.

"Nights and weekends. I spend about 20 hours a week."

While his collection spans different decades and eras, there's one guy that Danny has a fascination with. In fact, he's the number one collector in the world of Scott Kazmir cards, with over 10,000 of the Angels pitcher.

"Everything I have in here I use to trade for Scott Kazmir."

His collection takes up about three rooms and closets in his house and it's not uncommon for packages to come and go everyday. His wife may think he's a little crazy, but for Danny Jordan, his cards is a link to his childhood and the game that he loves.

@Steve: Sorry you are not a mind reader and I did indeed get the point of the story. I still stand behind my original comment and thoughts. Yes, I agree it is a cool story, but there was also too much information handed out for the criminal element to read as well. Coming from a family of law enforcement people I know that is not a "cool" thing either.

Cool story--but like many posters, trash talk completely missed the point. Lets focus on the fact that there is a positive story and enjoy it...Nice job WCTV--very good story.

I think Mr. Jordan has an awesome hobby, but at the rate of crime going on in Tallahasse right now, the last thing people need to be doing is speading the word about valuables in their homes!! :(
