Growing up isn't easy, some of us do it gracefully, and others stay young at heart forever.
And we all know someone that is truly a kid at heart--some, like Gregory Cohen have lofty pursuits of staying young forever
But that's what makes him so unique...and tonight, Gregory Cohen is someone you should know.
There's really no good way to describe Gregory Cohen--some say he's eclectic, some may say immature, others say he lives in a constant state of happy.
"Someone once said the thing you have to remember about Greg is that he's about five," said Cohen.
Actually, he's 42 and the proud owner of Lofty Pursuits in Tallahassee. He's known for a lot of things, but his new passion is soda fountain master.
"I've fallen in love with the soda fountain thing."
"An ice cream soda is built on a french soda which has some cream in it which creates a bubbly head that supports the ice cream."
He can make you a black cow or a green river and wants you to know that everything he has is from the turn of the century, from the glass mugs to the machines--making him affectionately known to most as a soda jerk, even if his employees have no idea what that means.
"No one under 40 knows what a soda fountain is
Take a look around the store, you'll see kites and yo-yo's and other things that don't make a lot of sense---but that's the beauty of Gregory Cohen, what you see is what you get--whatever that means.
"Look around the store, you'll see what my childhood was like, the question is, when did it end."
Lofty Pursuits is located at:
1415 Timberlane Road Suite 410
Tallahassee, FL 32312

Greg, have you thought about adding Charlotte Rousse to your shop? Folks your parents age remember all those soda fountain drinks as kids. But a favorite after school treat was the Charlotte Rousse from the bakery. Everyone from Brooklyn in the 50's remembers.Regards from folks from PS193. Barbara B
I wasn't alive back when soda shops were popular, but I've had a fair share. There used to be a soda shop in Tennessee and one Georgia that I would find myself going WAY off my route just to go to. Greg Cohen is a great guy he has my respect for doing what he loves to do!
I have very fond memories of the soda shop in the small town I grew up in in Central Florida. I can't wait to check this place out and see if he can make my favorite drink from way back then....a CHERRY-VANILLA-PEPSI ICE
