Everyone loves candy right! It may not be good for you, but it tastes really good.

That's what one Tallahassee man is trying to preach--he was trying to go into medicine and found his calling ironically, in candy. And his talent is pretty sweet.

You know the phrase what you see isn't always what you get--that's the epitome of Wes Raley. Known as the candy man, Raley is your kids best friend and a parents nightmare. And he's happy to put on a one man show at Lofty Pursuit's in Tallahassee.

"I can let everyone lick (the candy)--your parents would probably appreciate a bite sized piece," said Raley to a crowd of kids.

But really, there's nothing bite sized about Wes. He makes candy from scratch and he's really good at it. He boils pure sugar to 300 degrees and then with his hands, he winds, twists, turns, and cuts different colors into what he calls a public display of confection.

"Candy isn't just something you pop in your mouth. Although it should be delicious when you do, but it's something you should see and experience and watch. There are all kinds of science behind it, there's a lot to learn."

On this day, Wes is making raspberry candy but it looks more like a large mound of play dough. But to his live studio audience, it's a thing of beauty. And in a way it is.

"I ran into a guy that did candy like this and talked to him. I happened to have my resume in my backpack and the next thing I knew, I was working at Universal Studios with a company called Sugar Sugar making hard candies."

Wes has come a long way from the science lab to the candy factory, but his passion is still the same. But to these kids, it doesn't matter what he's done or what he's doing, all they want is a piece of candy.

A really nice, patient man who answers all of the kids (and parents') questions. Lofty Pursuits is a fun and educational place to go with or without children, where everyone can feel included.
