Tallahassee, FL - The Florida State baseball team will face two teams that played in the 2010 College World Series, four who finished the season ranked in the nation’s top 25, seven that advanced to the NCAA Tournament and 13 who won at least 30 games during the upcoming season as Hall of Fame Coach Mike Martin released the Seminoles’ 2011 schedule on Tuesday.

In addition to 10 series against Atlantic Coast Conference teams, Florida State's schedule is highlighted by two teams from the SEC with four games around the state of Florida against the Florida Gators and three on the road against the University of Georgia. The Seminoles’ four-game series against the Gators will see one game each played in Tampa (March 1), Gainesville (March 13), Jacksonville (March 29) and Tallahassee (April 12). The Seminoles and the Gators advanced to the 2010 CWS with the Seminoles sending the Gators home in advancing to the final six of the event. Florida State will play Georgia in Athens March 4-6.

“I am very happy – more than that I am excited – about our schedule for the 2011 season,” said Martin. “We will be challenged in our pre-conference schedule with the likes of Florida and Georgia in addition to Jacksonville, North Florida, Stetson, UCF and Florida Gulf Coast while knowing that over the course of 10 weekends during the spring we have to face 10 of the toughest conference opponents of any team in America. I’ll tell you this, our schedule will prepare us for the post-season – should we be fortunate enough to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.”

The Seminoles will open their season with eight straight home games starting Feb. 18 against Virginia Military Institute.

The Seminoles, who are the reigning ACC Champions, will compete in a 30-game ACC schedule playing all but one league school. Florida State begins league play against Boston College at Dick Howser Stadium (March 11-13).

A total of five ACC schools will make the trip to Tallahassee in 2011, including Boston College, Wake Forest (Mar. 25-27), North Carolina (Apr. 8-10), Duke (Apr. 22-24) and Clemson (May 19-21). The Seminoles will play host to the Tigers in the final regular season series for both teams.

The Seminoles will travel over the course of five weekends to play on the fields of five league opponents. Road trips for the Seminoles in 2011 include games at Virginia (Mar. 18-20), Maryland (Apr. 1-3), Virginia Tech (Apr. 15-17), Miami (Apr. 29-May 1) and NC State (May 13-15).

The Seminoles will also play host to non-conference opponents Hofstra and Maine.

Senior Mike McGee has proven himself to be the player to look out for on the Seminoles this season. McGee was the recipient of the inaugural John Olerud Award, which will be presented annually to the nation’s best two-way player. He also earned All-American honors for his versatility as a pitcher, an outfielder and a hitter. McGee, who was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010, is sure to lead the Seminoles in his final season.
