Tallahassee, FL - Florida State’s Amanda Winslow has been named the ACC’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
Winslow shares the honors with NC State’s Laura Hoer.
The second-year runner had a stellar showing at Saturday’s Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind. Her seventh-place finish was enough to help the No. 3-ranked women capture an overall team victory and her time of just 20:32.8 was also good enough to a new personal record.
“Amanda stepped up big time for her team Saturday,” FSU women’s cross country coach Karen Harvey said. “She paced herself around the course well and then unleashed a big kick at the end to put an exclamation point on her race.”
Next up for the ’Noles is a trip by some of the student-athletes to Central Florida to compete in the Florida Southern Invitational on Oct. 22. The ACC Championships are slated for Oct. 30.
Two No. 1s
In other news Monday, the USTFCCCA announced that the FSU men’s and women’s cross country teams are both No 1. in the South Region. Like the women, the men’s team had a great day at Pre-Nationals and finished with an overall team score good enough for third place.
