Bulls Place Five On All-BIG EAST Soccer Team

Tampa, FL - The University of South Florida men’s soccer team placed five players on the 2010 All-BIG EAST Conference men’s soccer team, which was announced on Thursday by the league office.

Midfielder Bernardo Anor and back Javed Mohammed earned second team all-conference honors while goalkeeper Jeff Attinella, midfielder Leston Paul and forward Hasani Sinclair were all selected to the league’s third team.

In addition, Paul was also named to the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team.

Anor, who has been injured during a large part of his time with USF, really hit his stride this year leading the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and three assists. He was also second on the team in game winners with three.

Mohammed, who joins Anor on the second team, recorded three points on three assists this season while also being considered as one of the team’s top defenders.

Attinella, who has played every minute over the past two years, recorded a 9-5-4 record this season with a school record 10 shutouts. He has a 0.78 goals against average and a .810 save percentage in 18 games. Along with his school record for shutouts in a season, Attinella, tied a school mark for consecutive shutouts with six, and set a new school mark with career clean sheets with 28.

Paul proved that he is one of the up-and-coming soccer standouts in the BIG EAST Conference. In 17 games this year, Paul recorded three points on one goal and an assist.

Sinclair one of the more explosive players in the conference, is third on the team in scoring with seven points on two goals and three assists, while connecting on one game-winner.

USF is currently 9-5-4 on the year and finished its BIG EAST slate with a 4-3-2 record. The Bulls, who have a No. 39 RPI in the latest rankings by the NCAA and play in what is one of the best collegiate soccer league in the country, await an NCAA Tournament bid which will be announced on Monday, Nov. 15.

Out of the Bulls' five losses this season, four of them have come at the hands of teams with RPI's of 28 or lower, including a heartbreaking 2-1 double overtime loss to No. 1 ranked Louisville on Oct. 23.
