Lakeland, FL - A late goal by TU junior defender Steven Conway, with 14 minutes to play, lifted TU (7-2, 2-0) to a 2-1 Sun Conference victory over Southeastern University (3-3, 0-2) on Saturday evening in Lakeland.
After a scoreless first half, senior midfielder Luciano Lorca gave TU the lead just 7:29 into the second half when he beat a defender on the dribble and struck the ball from 20 yards out beating the SEU goalkeeper on the ground to his far post.
With the Night Hawks seemingly gaining control of the game, Southeastern attempted to cross a ball into the box that was ruled to have been hand balled by a TU player. SEU converted the penalty kick to tie the game with 24:29 left in the game. TU continued to press, missing a couple of close scoring chances, but eventually notched the game winner and this time around disallowed SEU an opportunity to equalize.
The Night Hawks improve to 2-0 in TSC play and will next face Webber International University on Friday September 28 at 4:30PM in their TSC home opener.
