Defense Carries Lady Eagles Past Santa Fe

MARIANNA, Fla. (November 13, 2010) - FCCAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College limited No. 8 Santa Fe College to 25.0 percent shooting from the floor in a 59-47 win at the Collegiate Girl's Basketball Report Classic.

Santa Fe (2-3) hit only 16 of its 64 field goal attempts as Tallahassee improved to 3-0 with the win.

Tallahassee trailed 22-19 at the half and the game featured eight ties and nine lead changes before the Lady Eagles seized control. Tallahassee outscored its counterparts 40-25 in the second half.

Keri Thomas led Tallahassee with 12 points. Devan Matkin scored 11 off the bench, as the Lady Eagles' reserves again delivered an impressive performance, outscoring Santa Fe's bench, 24-9.

The two teams will square off again on Tuesday - a 6 p.m. tilt in Gainesville, Fla.
