Tallahassee, FL - Kevin Elliott's NFL dream sometimes seemed improbable. Undrafted out of FAMU as a wide receiver, Elliott survived Jacksonville's training camp and signed as a free agent.
"It's a great experience so far," he said. "It's definitely a big transition from college. It's definitely a job but I think I'm doing well with the transition so far."
Elliott impressed during the preseason, scoring two touchdowns including a game-winner against the New Orleans Saints.
In the regular season, he hasn't seen the field much. Through week 11, he has five catches for 46 yards. But Elliott is learning from guys he's playing with and against.
"Every week it's somebody I've been playing on Madden or something, so it's really been a nice experience to see players that I looked up to when I was younger," he said.
Elliott is the only FAMU alum playing in the NFL. And he hopes current Rattlers follow his path.
"Just try to encourage them and tell them tidbits and things that I've learned on my route to where I'm at now," he said.
Although he's a full-time Jaguar for now, he still has to prove he's worth that pro contract.
"Just staying consistent, man," said Elliott referring to his expectations. "Doing my job to the best of my ability and continue doing what got me here - working hard."
It's the same kind of work ethic that made him a Rattler.
