Tallahassee, FL - Florida State will tip off the 2012-13 season against South Alabama on Friday in the Tucker Center. But prior to the season opener, fans will have the privilege of watch the ACC Championship banner be unveiled.
"We're excited about it because it represents a measuring stick. It represents a landmark, some accomplishments that we've made," Head Coach Leonard Hamilton said.
Through two exhibition games the banner has been the only missing piece.
"The most important thing, though, is that I think it gives you a sense of pride to know that we're capable of accomplishing something big," Hamilton said.
But the 'Noles finished celebrating the school's first ACC title long ago.
"I've been wearing my ring around, I've been falling in love with it and all that kind of stuff," senior guard Michael Snaer said. "You did accomplish something great last year. But one thing I got to make sure I get to right now is that you gotta put all that stuff behind you. It's a whole new year."
"We need to use that as a motivator to come back this year and really, really work hard to try to do it again," Hamilton said.
That starts this Friday at 7 p.m.
