Tallahassee, FL - The No. 16 Florida State men’s tennis team (11-4) takes on instate rival No. 65 Miami (12-5) Sunday, March 24 at noon. The match will be played at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center unless inclement weather moves the match to the Indoor Tennis Facility at 2566 Pottsdamer Road.
“With Miami, it’s a rivalry game that is always a tough, competitive match,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “They are always fired up and ready to play. We were fortunate to win last year, but they got us the year before. While it is a typical ACC match, it has the addition of being a rivalry match.”
The Seminoles are in the midst of a successful season with a 7-4 ranking over ranked teams. This month the team defeated both No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 15 Texas which helped move the team up to No. 16 this week, the highest ranking of the season.
Florida State has been moving around the line-up little-by-little this season, but has been playing strong on all courts. Every player has a winning record in duel play this year. Senior Anderson Reed holds a 12-4 record while sophomore Dominic Reed is 12-5. Freshman Michael Rinaldi is 11-1 while sophomore Benjamin Lock is 11-6.
In doubles play Lock and senior Andres Bucaro are ranked No. 22 with a 7-3 record while senior Jordan Kelly-Houston and reed are 9-3. Cotrone and junior Blake Davis are 5-0.
