FSU's Jimbo Fisher appreciates the past matchups the Seminoles shared with Steve Spurrier.. As he approaches a brand new version of Noles vs. Spurrier, he embraces the challenge.
During Spurrier's 12 seasons as head coach of the Florida Gators, the Noles held the advantage (8-5-1) overall.
During a press conference for the Chick-fil-A Bowl earlier this week, Fisher acknowledge that College Football Hall of Famer Bobby Bowden and Spurrier had a lot of jabbing back and forth during the series but that there was an obvious respect for one another. He also gave credit to the football mind of Spurrier.
The Noles and South Carolina Gamecocks are set to play in a December 31st Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Ga. The game will mark the first meeting of FSU and USC since 1991.
The last time FSU played a bowl game in Atlanta was 1983 when FSU beat North Carolina 28-3 in the Peach Bowl.
During the regular season of 1983, FSU hosted South Carolina and beat the Gamecocks 45-30.
