Tallahassee, FL - Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher has granted redshirt junior quarterback Clint Trickett a release from his scholarship.
“After a long meeting with Clint, he expressed he’d like to explore another playing opportunity, and I’ve signed off on his wish. Clint has not only been a great player for our program, but a great young man and ambassador for Florida State who will graduate in a few weeks. He’s been a part of this program for a long time and we wish nothing but the best for him in his future endeavors.”
Trickett saw action in eight games in 2012 and completed 16 of his first 20 passes over three games (Murray State, Savannah State and Wake Forest). He finished the season completing 22-of-34 (64.7) for 272 yards. Trickett started two (Clemson, Wake Forest) of the nine games he played in during the 2011 season as a redshirt freshman. Trickett threw for a career-high 336 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in his first career start at Clemson. He was named ACC Rookie of the Week after his performance versus the Tigers. He finished his career at FSU completing 66-of-106 passes for 947 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games played. He completed 62.3 percent of his passes.
Trickett will graduate in May with a degree in social science from Florida State. He is slated to be a redshirt junior in 2013.
“I had a good time here at Florida State and want to thank everyone for being so good to me,” Trickett said. “I’ll always be part of the FSU alumni.”
