Tallahassee, FL - The Florida State University women’s athletics teams are once again joining forces with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and the TMH Foundation for the fourth annual “Paint it Pink” campaign. To kick off the 2012-13 season, an inaugural Paint it Pink walk will be held on the campus of Florida State at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, at the Unconquered Statue. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at Seminoles.com or may register on site. The cost to participate is $25 and will include the official t-shirt, football ticket, Aveda gift certificates and much more! Administrators, Coaches and Student-Athletes from Florida State’s Athletics Department will gather at the Unconquered Statue to address the media regarding “Paint It Pink”. All media outlets are invited to attend.
During the 2012-13 seasons, each of Florida State’s ten women’s sports will take part in a ‘Pink’ event of some kind. Teams will don such items as pink shoe laces, swim caps, and jerseys during their respective ‘Pink’ games. Proceeds from each ‘Pink’ game will be donated to the TMH Foundation for the Sharon Ewing Walker Breast Health Center at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.
Cancer has in some way affected all of our lives and it is through efforts such as the Paint It Pink Campaign that we move closer to a cure. The administration and staff of the Athletics Department along with our student-athletes are pleased to be able to help raise awareness of such a worthy cause. "The family of Sharon Ewing Walker established the Breast Health Center at TMH in her memory and to honor her courageous battle with breast cancer," said Matt Sherer, MBA, MHA, Administrator of the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center. Paula Fortunas, President & CEO of the TMH Foundation, added, "The FSU women-student-athletes are a credit to their generation and a tribute to the philanthropic spirit and the strong partnership between FSU and TMH.”
Fans will have the chance to contribute to the cause all season long through different fundraising opportunities at each ‘Pink’ game. The first three years of the campaign have resulted in over $30,000 raised for the Sharon Ewing Walker Breast Health Center.
Online auctions will be held at Seminoles.com and will include ‘Pink’ themed memorabilia including game worn jerseys. Donations of any amount will be accepted at each ‘Pink’ event. Fans are encouraged to check Seminoles.com for updates on when each ‘Pink’ game is scheduled.
