Tulsa, OK - Georgia senior Javier Garrapiz advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships consolation draw with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Texas’ 18th-ranked Ed Corrie Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Garrapiz, ranked No. 14, will face Binghamton’s Sven Vledgraven Saturday for a chance to play in the semifinals later in the day. The consolation finals will be played Sunday.
Also on Friday, Bulldog junior Sadio Doumbia fell to the tournament’s top-seed J.P. Smith of Tennessee, 7-5, 6-1, in a consolation match.
The All-American Championships is the first leg of the ITA Collegiate Grand Slam.
