Georgia Volleyball Travels to Florida State for Tournament

Athens, GA - After opening the season with a 3-0 record, the University of Georgia volleyball team travels to Tallahassee, Fla., to take part in a two-day tournament hosted by eighth-ranked Florida State and Florida A&M. The tournament will be split between Tully Gym on the campus of Florida State and FAMU’s Al Lawson Center.

Tournament Schedule
Friday, August 31
Georgia vs. Florida International (Tully Gym) – 11:30 a.m.
Georgia vs. Florida A&M (Al Lawson Center) – 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 1
Georgia at Florida State (Tully Gym) – 11 a.m.

Quick Notes
• A Look Back: Georgia finished with a 3-1 record in the Bulldog Invitational last weekend, going a perfect 3-0 against NCAA teams before dropping a 3-0 decision against the Slovenian National Team. Despite the loss, Georgia is a perfect 3-0 on the season, as the match against Slovenia is considered an exhibition. Georgia has not started 3-0 since the 2010 seasonwhen it started 6-0 before falling to Northern Colorado.
• Against the Field: The Bulldogs own a 12-10 record against the tournament field. Georgia is 2-1 against Florida A&M and is10-9 against Florida State. This season marks the first time that the Bulldogs have taken on Florida International.
•Newcomers: Georgia newcomers made their mark over the weekend, combining for 43 kills, 67 digs and 15 blocks. Oregon transferChloe Buckendahl finished with a .333 attack percentage, tallying 16 kills in 36 attempts. Jasmine Eatmon was second on the team in blocks with 10.
• All-Tournament Team: Brittany Northcutt was named to the Benson’s Hospitality Group Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend, after registering a .244 attack percentage on a team-best 29 kills. She also tallied 5 blocks, 21 digs and three aces. She had a double-double performance against Georgia Southern with 12 kills and 10 digs.
• Less than .100: The Bulldogs held Troy and Georgia State to less than a .100 attack percentage in back-to-back matches last weekend. Troy hit at a .010 clip, including a .000 percentage in set one and -.029 in set two. Georgia State finished with a .009 attack percentage, registering a .000 percentage in the first two sets.
