Georgia Volleyball Announces 2012 Schedule

Athens, GA -- Head coach Lizzy Stemke and the Georgia volleyball program announced its schedule for the 2012 season on Tuesday. The schedule features 15 home matches, including one in Stegeman Coliseum against Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs will also take on 10 Southeastern Conference teams at home. All times listed below are Eastern Standard.

“We are thrilled to announce our 2012 Bulldog volleyball schedule,” Stemke said. “We have an exciting preseason to begin the year with our home invitational which includes three southeast teams as well as a bit of an international event with the inclusion of a professional Serbian team exhibition match. We will then have two more great tournaments lined up at Florida State and Michigan State before gearing up for the new SEC schedule. With the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri the SEC willhave even more exciting volleyball every weekend!”

Georgia opens its season at home against Georgia Southern on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., as part of the Benson Hospitality Group Bulldog Invitational in the Ramsey Student Center. The following day, the Bulldogs will take on Troy at 7 p.m. The Bulldog Invitational concludes on Sunday, Aug. 26 as Georgia will play Georgia State at 1 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m., match against Serbia.

The Bulldogs take to the road the following weekend when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., Aug. 31-Sept. 1 for a four-team tournament. Georgia will play Florida International on Friday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m., before taking on Florida A&M at 6:30 p.m. The Bulldogs conclude the weekend tournament against host Florida State on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m.

Georgia continues its road trip Sept. 7-8 when it makes the trip to East Lansing, Mich., for a two-day tournament at Michigan State. Georgia will play Albany on Friday at 4:30 p.m., before returning to action on Saturday at 10 a.m., against Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. The weekend wraps up with a 7:30 p.m., match against Michigan State.

SEC play begins the following weekend, as the Bulldogs travel to Columbia, S.C., to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks at 7 p.m., on Sept. 14. Following the match against the Gamecocks, Georgia will take on Mississippi State at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 16.

Georgia returns to the friendly confines of the Ramsey Student Center Sept. 21 and Sept. 23 when it hosts Alabama and Arkansas. The Bulldogs will take on the Crimson Tide at 7 p.m., Friday before playing theRazorbacks on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

After a bye, the Bulldogs will travel to Columbia, Mo., for a meeting against new SEC foe Missouri on Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

Georgia continues its three-game road trip on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m., when it takes on LSU in Baton Rouge, La. The trip concludes in Knoxville, Tenn., on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1:30 p.m., against Tennessee.

The Bulldogs open a three-game home stand on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m., when they welcome Auburn and continues on Oct. 14 at 1:30 p.m., against Ole Miss. Fans will get a chance to see the volleyball team in action at Stegeman Coliseum on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., when the Bulldogs take on in-state rival Georgia Tech.

Georgia will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., before returning home on Oct. 26 to host Missouri at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs will take on Kentucky on Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

After a pair of matches against Florida and Auburn on Nov. 2 and Nov. 4, Georgia returns to Athens for contests against LSU and Texas A&M on Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.

Georgia will make the trip to Fayetteville, Ark., on Nov. 16 to take on Arkansas at 8 p.m., before facing Kentucky at 1:30 p.m., on Nov. 18 in Lexington, Ky.

The regular-season concludes at home this season, as Mississippi State comes to town on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The final match of theyear will be Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. against Florida.

The NCAA Tournament’s first and second round matches will be Nov. 29-Dec. 2, while regional semi-finals and regional finals will be heldDec. 6-9 at sites to be determined. The NCAA semi-finals and finals will also be at a site to be determined on Dec. 13 and Dec. 15.
