Coral Gables, FL (AP) - Leonard Hankerson shook hands with
Michael Irvin after Miami's first game of the season and called it
"humbling" to receive congratulations from a Hall of Fame player.
Maybe "inspiring" would have been a better word choice.
Very quietly, Hankerson is closing in one of Irvin's Miami
records -- most touchdown catches in a season. Irvin set the mark
with 11 in 1986; Hankerson's game-winning grab to beat Maryland in
the final minute on Saturday was his 10th TD of 2010, tying Lamar
Thomas, Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson for the second-most in a
And Hankerson should have at least four more games to pad his
total. He says, "I'm just having fun making plays for the team,
not thinking about much else."
