Jacket Swimming Sweeps Wildcats

Davidson, NC - Using 21 first place finishes, the Georgia Tech
men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads earned a sweep of
Davidson in their Friday night road dual with the Wildcats. Tech was led
by Hailey White, Ashley Hardy and Brandon Makinson who each earned two individual victories on the night.

The Jackets started off the night with two 400 medley relay victories
as Heidi Hatteberg, Hen Pauker, Jordan Evans and Keren Siebner earned the victory in 3:56.36 for the women while Matt Tang, Matthew Vaughan, Travis Wagner and Garrett Robberson swam 3:30.28 for the men’s win.

White earned her first win of the night in the 1,000-Free coming in
with a time of 10:29.76, Zach Tillman led the way for the men in the
same race beating his nearest competitor by nearly 20 seconds with a
9:34.80 finish.

Sarah Broadley and Matt Tang led the way for the Jackets in the
200-Free coming across in 1:55.07 and 1:43.60 respectively while Ben
Shepperd recorded the 50-Free victory with a finishing time of 21.94 and
Mike Hart earned the 200-Fly victory in 1:52.47.

In the 100-Free Lexi Weber took home the win on the women’s side
touching the wall in 51.65 while Nigel Plummer earned the victory in
47.29. Hatteberg and Max Randolph helped Tech to sweep the 200-Back with times of 2:06.60 and 1:54.79 respectively.

White took home her second victory of the night in the 500-Free with a
5:06.93 finish while Andreas Nilsson earned the win on the men’s side
with a time of 4:42.79. Anton Lagerqvist, touched the wall first in the
200-Breast for the second-straight meet this time with a time of

The Jackets finished out the meet with two first place finishes in the
200-Free Relay as Weber, Christine Chuang, Siebner and Jessie Mason
touched the wall first in 1:38.46 while Plummer, Jeffrey Phillips,
Sullivan Lynch and Robberson in 1:23.48.

The men’s diving squad of Brandon Makinson and Chris Khosravi earned
one-two finishes in the one and three meter dives. Makinson swept the
events with scores of 344.48 and 345.68 respectively while Khosravi took the runner up spot in 282.65 and 296.18.

On the women’s side, Ashley Hardy went back to her winning ways as
she took first in the one-meter and three-meter dives with scores of
285.53 and 251.55. Helen Alvey earned the second place finish in the
one-meter dive with a score of 260.85. Sarah Roethel rounded out the
pack with a fifth place finish in the one-meter (162.75) and a fourth
place spot in the three (163.86).

The Jackets return to action on Saturday afternoon in their final road
meet of the season when they take on ACC foe NC State in Raleigh.
