Kallman, Team USA Down Ghana

Hiroshima, Japan - The U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team opened play at the 2012 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup with a 4-0 victory against Ghana at the Hiroshima Big Arch Stadium. Florida State junior defender Kassey Kallman played all 90 minutes in the backline to help the USA post its 11th shutout victory of the year.

Three of the four goals came off the foot of forward Maya Hayes, who registered a second half hat-trick. The U.S. benefitted from an own goal in the 20th minute of play to open the scoring on Monday.

Germany defeated China, 4-0, in the second match of the evening meaning the Americans and Germans are tied atop Group D on points, goal difference and goals scored.
