Raleigh, NC (AP) - How Atlantic Coast Conference handled
injuries this season in many cases determined how successful they
were.

Their depth was tested, putting championships and bowl
aspirations in the hands of reserves.

Virginia Tech lost star rusher Ryan Williams for four games due
to a hamstring injury, only to see Darren Evans excel in a larger
role as the Hokies went on to clinch the Coastal Division.

Florida State got a solid performance from quarterback E.J.
Manuel when Christian Ponder missed a game due to injury, which
kept the Seminoles' Atlantic Division hopes alive entering the
final weekend.

Clemson, Miami, North Carolina and Georgia Tech also turned to
subs to become bowl eligible.
