Tallahassee, FL - The Florida State women’s tennis team will kick off the 2011 season at home this Saturday as they host their annual Seminole Quad Tournament. The No. 14 Seminoles will compete against Alabama, Central Florida and Iowa. Play will begin at 11am Saturday and Sunday and continue through Monday which is slated for a 10am start, with all matches being played at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

“We are fired up to get our spring season started this weekend, especially as we play on our home courts,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “This weekend will give us a great opportunity to get some solid matches under our belts before our first home dual match competition next weekend against FIU.”

Individually, Florida State has two student-athletes nationally ranked in singles as sophomore Noemie Scharle begins the year ranked at No. 18 and senior Katie Rybakova checks in at No. 42. Senior Federica Suess and sophomore Francesca Segarelli check in as the nation’s No. 43 ranked doubles tandem.

No. 6 North Carolina leads the way with No. 7 Duke, No. 11 Clemson, No. 12 Miami, No. 14 Florida State, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 24 Virginia taking the other top 25 spots.
