Tallahassee, FL - Former Florida State University softball player Carly Wynn will participate with the National Pro Fastpitch team as part of its “Back to School” tour against the current Seminole squad on Friday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at JoAnne Graf Field.

The talented outfielder who starred at FSU from 2007-10 will compete against many of her former teammates while playing with some of the best professional players in the world. In her senior season, Wynn led FSU with a .378 batting average while registering six home runs, a team-best 18 doubles and eight triples, 34 RBIs and 74 base hits.

“It’s very cool for me to have an opportunity to play with an elite group of girls on a field that I didn’t think I’d be playing on again,” Wynn said. “I’m very excited to play against our talented players that I am now coaching, and it should be a neat opportunity for everyone involved. I’m definitely excited for this event.”

A native of Sharpsburg, Ga., Wynn capped her established four-year career as a Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Southeast Region Second Team member. She also earned All-ACC First Team honors in her sophomore and senior campaigns, was named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Third Team All-American in 2009 and was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-American as well.

The event will feature several other nationally-renowned softball professionals, with a full roster expected to be released next week. The NPF’s intent with each game is to provide a fun, family-oriented atmosphere as well as serve as a positive role model for young people.

FSU, which finished 44-18 last season while earning its 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, returns several key pieces from the 2010 squad. Senior pitcher Sarah Hamilton, a Tallahassee native, finished 22-10 with a 1.50 ERA last year en route to Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region Second Team honors. FSU also returns eight of its top nine hitters from a season ago, highlighted by junior outfielder Shayla Jackson – who batted .338 with 33 RBIs in 2010.

The Seminoles return to the diamond this weekend on Sunday, Oct. 31, against Seminole State at noon and Tallahassee Community College at 2 p.m. Both games will take place at JoAnne Graf Field.
