MIAMI, Fla. (December 11, 2010) - FCCAA No. 3/NJCAA No. 13 Tallahassee Community College turned a close game into a relatively easy victory on Saturday, defeating Miami Dade College 77-58.
The game was nip-and-tuck for 20 minutes, as Tallahassee took a 38-36 lead to the locker room. The second half, however, was all Tallahassee as the Lady Eagles outscored the host Lady Sharks 39-22 to pull away, completing a sweep of the season series between the two teams.
Tallahassee defeated Miami Dade, 84-65, at the Eagledome on November 7 in the Lady Eagles' season opener.
On Saturday, three players reached double-figures for Tallahassee, led by Keri Thomas' 19 points. Alexis Grant scored 18 and Shanequa Phifer added 14.
Tallahassee is now 8-1 while Miami Dade falls to 2-11.
The Lady Eagles' southern Florida road swing continues on Monday when they play at Broward College. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
