Swofford 'Disappointed' in FSU Soccer Decision

Cary, NC (AP) - Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John
Swofford says he's "highly disappointed" that Florida State
didn't bring several starters to the league's women's soccer
tournament in an apparent attempt to rest them for the upcoming
NCAA tournament.

In a statement issued Thursday, Swofford called the Seminoles'
decision disrespectful because it "undermines the purity of the
competition that a conference championship deserves."

The commissioner said conference action will be forthcoming.

Swofford's statement came one day after Wake Forest beat Florida
State 3-1 in a quarterfinal. Seminoles coach Mark Krikorian called
it "a coach's decision" to leave at home seven players who made
the all-ACC first or second teams.

This is one of the reasons I don't want to see a playoff in NCAA football. Look at the NFL, once a team has cemented their spot in the post season they rest their starters. They don't care about the fans who paid the big bucks to see those games. Imagine paying several $100 to see the final game of a football season only to have all the stars sit it out. That same thing would happen in college if there was a playoff/tournament.
