Tallahassee, FL - Four players scored in double-figures to lead FCCAA No. 7 Tallahassee Community College past Gulf Coast Community College, 65-46, on Tuesday evening in the Panhandle Conference opener for both teams.
Marterrace Brock led the Eagles with 13 points. Leek Leek added 12, Richard Anderson recorded a double-double - 11 points and 12 rebounds - and Carlyle Francis scored 10.
The first ten minutes of the game belonged to Gulf Coast, as the Commodores led by as many as seven points. But an 8-0 run by Tallahassee tied the game at 15-all at the 10:03 mark.
Tallahassee later closed the half on an 11-0 run and carried a 31-23 lead to the locker room.
The Eagles' defense controlled the game in the second half, limiting Gulf Coast to 25 percent shooting (8-of-32) from the floor. The Commodores went 6:55 between field goals while Tallahassee was busy extending its lead to as many as 19 points (55-36).
The Eagles' defensive effort was aided by Anderson and Rashard McGill (10 rebounds), who led a 54-40 effort on the glass for Tallahassee.
Jordan Payton led Gulf Coast with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Travis Smith scored 13.
Tallahassee will carry a 15-4 (1-0 PC) record into Saturday's trip to Pensacola State College. Gulf Coast is 10-9 (0-1).
