Barnesville, GA - FCCAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College fought off a furious second-half charge by Gordon (Ga.) College and defeated the Highlanders, 75-69, on Tuesday evening in the Eagles’ first road game of the 2010-11 season.
Behind 17-of-29 shooting from the floor, Tallahassee took a 47-26 lead at the half and appeared to have firm control of the game. Gordon, however, opened the second half on a 15-2 run to pull within single digits. The final margin of six points would be as close as the Highlanders (2-2) would get.
Tallahassee rode a 31-point performance by freshman guard Marterrace Brock, who along with backcourt mate Carlyle Francis (19 points) combined to score 50 of the Eagles’ 75 points on Tuesday.
Brock hit 9-of-13 field goal attempts and was 10-of-13 from the charity stripe.
