Tallahassee Coasts Past USC-Salkehatchie at Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic

Tallahassee, FL - FCCAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College (6-2) never trailed on Wednesday evening and defeated the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie, 74-56, on day one at the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic.

Tallahassee needed only eight minutes to claim a double-digit lead in Wednesday's victory. Richard Anderson's basket put the Eagles in front, 17-6, with 12:01 left in the first half. The lead reached 17 in the final minute of the half and Tallahassee carried a 41-24 lead to the locker room.

After shooting 50 percent (17-of-34) from the floor in the first 20 minutes, the Eagles picked up where they left off when the second stanza began. Christian Farmer's three-pointer capped a 17-4 run to start the half, one that gave the Eagles a 58-28 lead with 13:12 left in the game.

Tallahassee was on cruise control from that point forward. In fact, USC-Salkehatchie (1-8) limited the Eagles to only two points in the final 4:24, outscoring Tallahassee 13-2 to end the game.

Anderson led all scorers with 16 points. Two other Eagles reached double-figures - Rashard McGill with 11 and Carlyle Francis with 10.

Nate Drayton paced the Indians with 15. Donnie James added 12.

Tallahassee faces another foe from the Palmetto State at 6 p.m. Thursday when it takes on Spartanburg Methodist College in the final game of the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic.

Spartanburg Methodist defeated Brevard Community College, 67-61, in Wednesday's first game.

Brevard and USC-Salkehatchie play one another in Thursday's 4 p.m. contest.
