OCALA, Fla. (December 11, 2010) - FCCAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College (11-2) picked up its eleventh win of the season on Saturday, defeating the State College of Florida, 69-61, on day one at the Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout.
Behind 58.3 percent (14-of-24) shooting from the floor, Tallahassee led 40-25 at the half. The Eagles' lead grew to as much as 19 in the second half before the Manatees fought back.
SCF got as close as five in the closing minutes but Tallahassee, who hit 12-of-13 second-half free throws, held on for the win.
Marterrace Brock and Rashard McGill scored 14 points each to lead Tallahassee. Carlyle Francis added 12 and Christian Farmer scored 11.
Tallahassee will play the College of Central Florida at 8 p.m. Sunday on day two at the Shootout.
