Athens, GA - Georgia freshman defender Torri Allen was one of 24 players called into the first U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team training camp of the new year, set for Jan. 15-22 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., under the direction of Dave Chesler.
Allen is one of 15 players who are currently college freshmen, while the other nine are high school seniors. The camp is in preparation for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The camp is Allen’s first with the U-20s, while she previously played with the U-18s for the past year and a half. In March of 2010, Allen helped the U18s to two wins in the Ten Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain.
Her freshman season, Allen played in all 21 games for the Georgia squad, starting 19 on the back line. She was instrumental in a defensive unit that posted a 0.85 goals against average and nine shutouts. She was named to the 2010 SEC All-Freshman team and to the All-South Region third team.
